Sarah Elsie Fletcher Jenkins, 80, died on Nov. 12, 2007 at the Hospice House of the Upstate, in Anderson.

She was born in Greenville County, the daughter of the late William Henry and Daisy Barton Fletcher. She retired from Union Carbide and was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Wesley N. Jenkins and Michael S. Jenkins; brothers, Robert H. Fletcher and C. Vincent Fletcher; one sister, Sybil Fletcher Traynum; and three grandchildren.

A celebration of her life was held on Nov. 16, 2007 at Bessie Road Baptist Church. Private interment will follow at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Bessie Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 572 Bessie Road in Piedmont.


WALLACE ‘ED’ GIRARDEAU

Wallace Edward “Ed” Girardeau, 86, of Williamston, widower of Ruth Elizabeth Campbell Girardeau, died Nov. 14, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late George Maurice and Ailer Gilbert Girardeau. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from Michelin Tire Corporation and a member of White Plains Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Nov. 17 at Graceland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to White Plains Baptist Church, Focus on the Future Fund, 1435 Easley Highway, Pelzer, SC 29669.


JAMES GARY SIMPSON

James Gary Simpson, 61, died Nov. 13, 2007.

He was born in Greenville, a son of Florine Estelle Landreth Simpson Longley and the late James Simpson. He was retired from Michelin, served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2nd Ward, Simpsonville.

Surviving are four daughters, Diana Czerkies of Boyne Falls, MI, Tricia Simpson of Mauldin, Melodie Maes of Greenville and Jamie Mitchell of Woodstock, GA; two grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers,  Sandra Thomas of Shelby, NC, Marion Robertson of Greenville and Debra Johnson of Spartanburg; and a brother, David Longley of Williamston, Pocahontas of Pelzer.

Funeral services were held Nov. 15 at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

KEVIN LEIGH OWENS

Kevin Leigh Owens, 30, of Pelzer died Nov. 12, 2007 at his home.

He was born in Greenville, was Vice-President of Bilmar Inc. and a member of Glendale Baptist Church in Mauldin.

Surviving are his wife, Stephanie S. Owens; daughter, Peyton R. Owens; his parents, William E. and Marian Owens; grandparents, Marion R. and Frances C. Owens and Wilson and Dorothy Mullinax; brother, Spyke Owens; and sister, Kim Owens Strickland.

Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at the Glendale Baptist Church in Mauldin. Interment followed in Greenville Memorial Park.


WILFORD BROOME

Wilford Lee Broome, 79, widower of Sybil Annibell Walls Broome, of Williamston, died Nov. 14, 2007 at NHC of Anderson.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Clarence Henry and Lillian Hughey Broome. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of South Carolina State Guard and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Belton.

He is survived by daughters, Klara Littfinski, Kristie Mayr, both of Germany; brothers, Thomas Broome of Greenville, Clarence Henry Broome, Jr., of Anderson; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 15 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JAMIE MITCHELL

James Leonard Mitchell, Jr., 37, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007.

He was born in Anderson, SC, the son of James Leonard Mitchell, Sr., and Peggy Stegall Heckler. He was a master designer with Palmetto Cotton and Embroidery.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Dianna Roberts Mitchell; his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Dennis Heckler; his father and stepmother, J.L. and Darla Mitchell; his beloved children, James Spencer Mitchell and Caitlin Leigh Winstead; a brother, John Ryan Mitchell; maternal grandmother, Sara Stegall; paternal grandmother, Agnes Mitchell; aunts and uncles, Tommy Stegall, Swenton Alvin Mitchell, Jr., Susan Kaut, Deanna and Tim Sloan, Delaine and Randle Owens; cousins, Brandon Saltmarsh, Robin Wilson, Lee Mitchell, Jacob and McKenna Sloan; his in-laws, George and Deborah Roberts; a brother and sister-in-law, Erik and Tabetha Roberts; nephews, Bryson, Austin and Landon Roberts; Dianna’s grandmother, Dannis Spearman; his best friend, Jason Williams. He is also survived by his loving pets, Molly, Sammie, Jo-Jo, and Rocky.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, John Felix Stegall; his paternal grandfather, Swenton Alvin Mitchell, Sr.; great-grandmother, Sadie Wilson; and a cousin, Swenton Alvin Mitchell, III.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of The Mackey Mortuary, conducted by the Reverend Neil Cochran.

The family received friends Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at  The Mackey Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to The Greenville Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, SC 29609; the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621; or to a charity of one’s choice.

RANDALL ALEXANDER BOLDING SR.

Randall A. Bolding, Sr., 53, widower of Fonda Cantrell Bolding, of Pelzer, died Nov. 17, 2007 in Demorest, Georgia.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Leroy and Geneva Alexander Bolding of Easley.

He was employed by Cox and Floyd Grading and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons; Jason Bolding and Randy Bolding, II, both of Pelzer; a step-son, Dusty Cantrell of Walhalla; daughter, Stacie Bolding of Anderson; brother, Leroy Bolding, Jr. of Edmund, OK; three sisters, Patricia Murray of Huntersville, NC, Wanda Craven of Lexington, NC, Adicia Bolding of Clemson, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 21 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.


EVA ALLISON

Eva Mae Johnson Allison, 93, of Piedmont, widow of Street Clifton Allison, died Nov. 17, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Dee and Maggie Virginia Gilliam Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Earl Wilton Allison, Donald Edward Allison, both of Piedmont, Lewis D. Allison of Pelzer; daughter, Shirley Faye Thompson of Piedmont; sister, Alice Bennefield of Fair Play; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.


EARL SIMS, SR.

Earl Wayne Sims, Sr., 81, of Pelzer, died Nov. 16, 2007.

He was born in Whitmire and was formerly a Plant Supervisor for Brookline Carpets.

He is survived by four sons, Michael and Ron Sims, both of Dacusville, Wayne and Bruce Sims, both of California; a daughter, Christy Sims of California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 19 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Liberty Memorial Gardens.
