Charles Milton Moore, 82, husband of Doris Earle White Moore of Williamston, died Sept. 27, 2008 at Ellenburg Nursing Center in Anderson.

Born in Lyman, he was the son of the late Clarence and Carrie Taylor Moore. He retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of Beech Springs Tabernacle.

He is survived by his wife; and daughter, Charlene Moore, both of the home.

Funeral service was held Sept. 30 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in the Williamston City Cemetery.


JOHN BURCH, III

John Albert Burch, III, 34, husband of Katy Gilland Burch of Pelzer, died Sept. 26, 2008.

Born in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of John Albert Burch, Jr. and Sue Cordell Parker. He was employed by Mideast Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of the home; father and step-mother, John Albert Burch Jr. and Lavena Martin Burch of Clover; mother, Sue Cordell Parker of Gastonia, NC; son, John Perry Burch of Laurens County; and sister, Heather Chapman of Shelby, NC.

The family will receive friends  7-9 p.m. Thursday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317.


TERRY DOGAN

Terry Dogan of Detroit, Michigan, died Sept. 22, 2008 at Hillcrest Hospital.

He was a son of the late Charles Marion and Noree Johnson Dogan.

Surviving are his wife, Delilah D. Dogan; daughters, Roshonda Dogan-Washington of Detroit, MI and Rosalind Townes of Greenville; sons, Terry, Jr. and Tavarus Dogan, both of Detroit, MI; sisters, Ella W. Wilson of Greenville, Barbara Gilliam and Lyda Chapman, both of Pelzer; brothers, John Dogan of Piedmont, Harris Dogan of Wake Forest, and James Dogan of Detroit, MI; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sept. 26 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Moores Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.


CAROLYN LOOPER DRAGONETTI

Peggy Carolyn Nix Looper Dragonetti, 65, widow of William Roy Looper, died at her home on September 25, 2008.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Emma Irene Butts Nix. She was formerly employed by Advance Pay USA and a member of Orville Baptist Church in Anderson.

Surviving are daughters, Frances Garrett of Greenville and Debra A. Cue of Belton; sons, William R. Looper, Jr. and James P. Looper, Sr., both of Perry, FL; step-daughter, Yvette Dragonetti of Hartwell, GA; brother, Joseph Nix of Anderson; a niece reared in the home, Lori Gayle Cummings of Jacksonville, FL; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sept. 29 at Pisgah Cemetery in Perry, FL.

Memorials may be made to the ASPCA.


VIVIAN ROE

Vivian Cason Roe, 89, of Piedmont, widow of Joseph Thomas Roe, died Sept. 27 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Frank and Martha Lou Gennie Phillips Cason. She retired from G&G Sewing in Piedmont, and was a member of Grove Station Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Lou Roe Taylor of the home; son, Claude Newton Roe of Williamston; brother, Paul Cason of Shenandoah, VA; sisters, Martha Louise Griffin of Macon, GA, Mattie Lee Newkerk of East Point, GA, Gennie Frances Brady of Melbourne, FL; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sept. 29 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

‘NELL’ McCARSON

Nellie “Nell” Ellington McCarson, 82, died Sept. 29, 2008.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Bascomb and Ella McCarver Ellington. She was a homemaker and a member of East Park Baptist Church in Greenville.

Surviving are her husband, Rev. C.H. McCarson of the home; son, Sam McCarson of Piedmont; daughters, Joyce Parker of Greenville, Sara Spence of Lexington; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Funeral services were held Oct. 1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.


THOMAS O. GLENN

Thomas O. Glenn, 81, of Spartanburg, died September 29, 2008 at his home.

He was first married to the late Lillie S. Glenn. He was the husband of Minnie Mayes Glenn of the home and the son of the late Luther and Imie Legg Glenn.

He was a member of the Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church and retired from the Noland Company.

Surviving are two sons, Danny Ray Glenn of Greenville, Stevey Glenn of Spartanburg; two daughters, Ms. Thomasena Glenn and Donna Kay Glenn, both of Piedmont; one brother, Roy K. Glenn of Woodruff; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


A.K. ‘KIRK’ SCHILLING

A.K. “Kirk” Schilling, 62, husband of Naomi Schilling, of Mauldin, died Sept. 29, 2008 at his home.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the Greenville Police Department.

Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are a son, C. Shane Schilling of Piedmont; two daughters, Christi S. Anglin of Piedmont and Stacy Smith of Easley; six grandchildren; and a sister, Judy Schilling of California.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will follow.

R. L. ‘SHORTY’ GRAVLEY

R.L. ‘Shorty” Gravley, 83, formerly of Williamston, died Sept. 29, 2008 at Blue Ridge Living Center.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late James “Jim” and Mae Morton Gravley and the widower of Adell Gravley. He was a member of Pelzer Church of God.

Surviving is a sister, Elizabeth Fulford of Central.

The family will be at the home of Elizabeth Fulford at 316 Shutter Road, Central, SC 29630.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
