PELZER - Ernestine Kellett Heatherly, 89, widow of O.C. Heatherly, of 136 Chapman Road, entered into eternal rest to be with her Savior on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at Greenville Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Greenville County on March 26, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Milton and Nancy Emma Campbell Kellett. She was a member of Daventon Baptist Church. She is survived by sons, Charles C. Heatherly, Sr., and his wife, Virginia Ann, Jimmy D. Heatherly and his wife Peggy, Jerry F. Heatherly and his wife, Varena; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Charles C. Heatherly, Jr., Lt. Col. Ronald E. Heatherly, Sgt. John W. Heatherly, Rick Heatherly, Tim Heatherly, Kelly Heatherly, and Stevie Heatherly; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Cye, Andrea, Rachel, Emma-Grace, Madelyn, Taylor, Caitlyn, Chase, Carson, McKinley, Conner, Brett and T.J.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, she was predeceased by sons, William Donnie Heatherly and Milton Eugene Heatherly; a brother, David Alton Kellett; sisters, Sybil Elizabeth Thompson and Missouri Virginia Lollis; and five other siblings who died in infancy. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday at Daventon Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Heatherly officiating. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of Jerry and Varena Heatherly, 128 Chapman Road, Pelzer, and received friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Frieda Clardy, 83, was born in Schmidt, SD and died Sept. 2, 2007 in Spokane Valley, WA. She is survived by her sons Ricky and Janet Clardy of Otis Orchards, WA, Willis and Betty Clardy of Williamston; two daughters, Linda Gross of Athol, ID and Carol Wiedrich of Inchelium, WA; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William G. Clardy.
Sarah Nalley Corn, 84, widow of W.E. Runt Corn, died Sept. 4, 2007 at Cannon Memorial Hospital. Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Olin Eugene and Hortense Durham Nalley, she was retired from Swirl, Inc. of Easley and a member of Arial Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia C. Holcombe of Chester; two sons, Calvin Corn and Michael Corn, both of Pickens; four brothers, Ford Nalley of Florence, W.T. Nalley and Haskell Nalley, both of Pickens and Homer Nalley of Easley; a sister, Cornelia Bowen of Williamston; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 7 at Arial Baptist Church. Mary Anna Ten Eick, of Greenville, died Aug. 30, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Ronald J. Hamilton and Jessie Lucile Tilley of Tampa, FL. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville and retired from the School District of Greenville County. Surviving is a daughter Carol B. Ayers of Piedmont; two sons, Charles Watson Ten Eick III of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada and James H. Ten Eick of Greenville; one sister, Bertha Jones of Florida and five grandchildren. Margaret Lee Holliday Rogers McAlister, 78, formerly of Belton, widow of Walter R. McAlister, died September 9, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate. Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Spears and Rosa Caroline Creamer Holliday. She was a homemaker and a member of Dorchester Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Fennell of Belton; son, Larry R. Rogers of Williamston; sisters, Sara Rogers and Dorothy Owens, both of Williamston; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was twice married, first to the late Cecil R. Rogers. Funeral services were held Sept. 11 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Whitefield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Linda King Keeler, 65, of Williamston, widow of James Robert Keeler, died Sept. 8, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late J.R. and Mary Bawkum King. She retired from the S.C. Department of Mental Health and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Terri Chastain of Williamston; son, Kenneth Keeler of Woodruff; sister, Mallie K. Jordan of Williamston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Grace L. Williams Manley died Sept. 7, 2007. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny T. and Ruth Garrett Williams, and wife of Olin F. Manley, Sr. She was a Baptist. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Olin F. Manley, Jr.; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; an adopted granddaughter. Graveside services were held Sept. 9 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.
Larry Roland Maxwell, Sr., 81, died Sept. 4, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Annie C. and John Maxwell. Surviving are daughter, Carol Laverne Hunter of Charleston; sons, Larry Roland Maxwell, Jr. of Simpsonville, Pierre Maurice Keith Maxwell of Spartanburg, Clifford Carl Maxwell of Atlanta, GA, Gregory Wade Maxwell and Charles Luther Maxwell, both of Greenville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Troy Wilson Putman, 64, of Fountain Inn, died Sept. 6, 2007. Born in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late Clarence E. Putman and Marion Owens Putman. He was employed with Jim Walter Homes and started Foothills Delta P Builders. He also started E&W Enterprises with his son Eric. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war. Surviving are a son, Eric Wilson Putman of Fountain Inn; daughter, Stephanie Putman of Simpsonville; two brothers, Raymond Putman of Piedmont and Earnest Putman of Woodstock, GA; sister, Mary Gretchel Clemmer of Gastonia, NC; his former wife, Roberta Putman of Simpsonville; his longtime companion, Laurie Wills; and two grandchildren. Effie Pitts Merritt, 92, of Piedmont, wife of the late Bryan Merritt, died Sept. 8, 2007 at NHC of Greer. Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Maggie Watkins Pitts. She was a homemaker and a founding member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, E. Ben Merritt and J.B. Merritt, both of Piedmont; a daughter, Iris Donnan of Piedmont; a sister, Minnie Merritt of Hartwell, GA; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 10 at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Samuel Tracy Eakes, 34, died Sept. 7, 2007. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Linda Strange Eakes of Powdersville and Robert Samuel Eakes of Pelzer. He was self-employed and was of the Church of God Faith. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Kassidy Eakes of Greenville; a son, Christian Eakes of Greenville; a sister, Stevie McCauley of Powdersville; and a grandmother, Wilma Strange of Powdersville. Funeral services were held Sept. 11 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.
LeeRoy Wilson, 63, husband of Hisayo Margie Wilson of Pelzer, died Sept. 10, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Harvey Lee Pink Wilson, Sr., and the late Anna Marie Wilson. He retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a Baptist. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Darlene Wilson Greenway of Belton; step-daughters, Judy Woodworth of Greenville, Mary Broome of Walhalla; brother, Joseph Wilson of Pelzer; sister, Sharon Garrett, of Pelzer; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Richard C. W. Dub Owens, 74, husband of Dorothy Dot Alma Holliday Owens, of Williamston, died Sept. 10, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Richard Vandine and Lonnie Davis Owens. He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired from Dusco, and was a member of Dry Oak Assembly of God. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Sandra Jacobs of Williamston, Karen Beasley of Donalds; son, Barry Owens of the home; sister, Jeanette Harris of Pelzer; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Funeral services were held Sept. 12 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
June 19, 1958 - Sept. 9, 2007 WILLIAMSTON - Walter Maurice Eller, 49, husband of Barbara Jean Meyer Eller, of 123 Lakeview Drive, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Piedmont, he was a son of Jack Carol Eller, Sr. and Sybil Brookie Eller of Piedmont. He was formerly employed by Michelin and a member of Piedmont Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by sons, Brandon Maurice Eller of Greenville, Cameron Matthew Eller of Pelzer; sister, Denise Eller Price and her husband Randall of Piedmont; and nephews, Nick and Josh Price. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Eller, Jr. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, with the Rev. Scott Sheriff officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of his mother, Sybil Eller, 113 Park Row, Piedmont, and will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.vitaliy martynyuk Vitaliy Martynyuk, 44, husband of Liliya Vygovska Martynyuk of Pelzer, died Sept. 10, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Ukraine, he was the son of the late Anton Martynyuk and Mariya Ostapchuk Martynyuk. He was of the Pentecostal Faith. Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Anton Martynyuk; daughters, Mariya Martynyuk and Antonina Martynyuk. Funeral service will be held September 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Keowee Baptist Church in Honea Path. Interment will follow in the Belton Cemetery. |
