JAMES MICHAEL MOSTELLER SR.

James Michael Mosteller, Sr., 52, formerly of Williamston, died June 26, 2008 in Columbia.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Charles A. Mosteller, Sr. and Claire Jennings Mosteller. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church of Easley and  US Army Veteran.

Surviving are a son, James Michael Mosteller, Jr. of Iva; brothers, William C. Mosteller of Belton, G.J. Buck Mosteller of Woodruff and Johnny W. Mosteller of Williamston; sisters, Georgia Mosteller of IL and Toni Mosteller Bates of Honea Path; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 29 at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.


LOIS FULMER

Lois Ann Henderson Fulmer, 88, of Greenville, wife of Miles Richard Fulmer, died June 26, 2008.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late John Clyde and Lydia Pearl Ross Henderson. She worked at Martin Airplane Factory in Baltimore, MD as an electrician during World War II and retired from Sears Roebuck in Greenville.

She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Becky Fuduric of Greenville and Sylvia Howard of Piedmont; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Funeral service was held June 29 at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

BARBARA MORGAN HENDERSON

Barbara Morgan Henderson, 91, died June 25, 2008.

HELEN M. BROWN

Helen McKinney Brown, 81, of Piedmont, wife of the late James Allen Brown, Sr., died June 24, 2008.

She was born in Chester, the daughter of the late Palmer Patterson and Flora McGarity McKinney.

She retired as a nurse.

She was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Joyce B. Rossbach of Syracuse, NY and Susan B. Bradley of Florence; sons, James Allen Brown, Jr. of Conway and John M. Brown of Nashville, TN; sisters, Jeanette Elliott, Nena Wages and Nell Clack, all of Chester and Fay Whitt of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Robert McKinney of Chester; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 28 at Sandy Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

HENRY RAY ‘LEO’ GODFREY

Henry Ray “Leo” Godfrey, 69, of Piedmont, died June 30, 2008.

Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late John and Willie Mae King Godfrey and husband of the late Sonja Gayle Cobb Godfrey.

Surviving are two daughters, Gayla Godfrey Loudermilk of Inman and Melodye Gallman of Blue Ridge; two sons, Steven Ray Godfrey and Mark Polo Godfrey, both of Piedmont; sister,  Shirley Anderson of Greenville; brother, James Ralph Godfrey of Greenville; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held July 2 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

JAMES BROWN, SR.

James Ollie Brown, Sr., 77, of Piedmont, widower of Margaret Capps Brown, died June 26, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Ollie Marshall and Bessie Eva Reeves Brown. He retired from Delta Woodside Estes Plant and was a Baptist.

Surviving are daughter, Carolyn Jones; sons, Jamie Brown, William ‘Gene’ Brown; sister, Sarah Barbre, all of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 29 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Piedmont.


EDNA B. MARTIN

Edna Bowlan Martin, 84, of Belton, died July 5, 2008 in Anderson.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Trenton Busha and Edna Mae Poore Busha. She was an associate of Wal-Mart in Anderson and was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Jimmie B. Cromer of Belton, Jean Bowlan of Greenville and Judy B. Joyner of Belton; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, James E. Bowlan and William S. Martin, Jr.

Funeral service was held July 9 at Whitefield Baptist Church. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.


JAMIE STEPHEN HAYDEN

Jamie Stephen Hayden, 28, of Belton, died July 5, 2008 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of William “Billy” Henry and Margaret Little Hayden. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Honea Path.

Surviving in addition to his parents of the home is a brother, Gregg Michael Hayden of Belton.

Funeral service was held July 7 at Southside Baptist Church in Honea Path. Burial followed in Garden of Memories.

WILTON 'JACK' PEARSON

PIEDMONT - Wilton Earl “Jack” Pearson, 83, husband of Joyce White Pearson, of 223 Highway 17, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 29, 2008, after a courageous twenty-five year battlwe with Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Otis and Grace Pearson. He graduated from Furman University where he was a pitcher for the Paladin baseball team and went on to complete his Master’s degree at Clemson University. Jack was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and his love for his country was always evident in his life. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for many years, and was a dedicated teacher at Ellen Woodside and Woodmont High School.

As a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, he served as a Deacon and as a teacher for the RA’s. He was happiest fishing and spending as much time as he could at the lake, ocean, or just being outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Joyce White Pearson; two daughters, Rebecca Feldman and her husband Jack, Rachel Atkins and her husband Brent; one son, John Pearson; seven grandchildren, Andrew and Suzannah Feldman, Jessica Few and her husband Brian, Melissa Merritt and her husband Will, Jacob, Hunter, and Chandler Pearson; and four great-grandchildren, Annelise and Emmaline Few, Reagan and Jess Merritt.

He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Pearson.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Services followed at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in the M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Belton.

The family would like to thank the special ones at Campbell Veterans’ Home, Hospice of South Carolina, and his caregiver, Mrs. Joan Durham for the loving care that was given to him during the last stages of his illness.

MARGARET SIMMONS

PELZER - Margaret Madeline Allen Simmons, 89, formerly of 404 Old Brickyard Road, widow of Woodrow C. Simmons, Sr., died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Summit Place in Anderson.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Rev. A.B. and Sunie Fuller Allen. She was employed by Pelzer Mill #4, was a licensed cosmetologist who owned and operated Simmons Beauty Shop and later, retired from Parisienne Wig Salons. She was a member of Williamston First Baptist Church. She was a woman with many interests, a multi-talented contest winner in photography, words and jingles.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia S. Callaham of Belton, Esther S. Gerard of Travelers Rest, Nancy Simmons of Seneca, and Ann Simmons of Pelzer; son, Woodrow C. Simmons, Jr. of Williamston; sisters, Violet McCracken of Atlanta, GA and Frances Randolph of Asheville, NC; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family is at the home of her son, Woody Simmons, Jr., 118 Lakeview Dr., Williamston, and received friends 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. July 2 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Skinner and Mrs. Townie Sloane officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bill, Chris and West Shirley, Bobby and Andy Callaham, Cindy and Jack Volker, and Calvin Simmons. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.


JO FAYE CANNON

PELZER - Jo Faye Frady Holbrook Cannon, 76, of 140 Watt Rogers Rd., widow of Dewey Ned Cannon, died June 30, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Easley.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late David Rufus and Naomi Autrey Frady. She was twice married, first to the late William Claude “Buster” Holbrook, Jr.

Mrs. Cannon was retired from J.P. Stevens White Horse Rd. Plant and a member of Eastview Baptist Church where she belonged to the Senior Adult Men’s and Ladies Sunday School Class.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Kathy Cannon of Williamston, Glenn and Kristen Cannon of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jo and Larry Pruitt of Easley, Doris and Glenn Albright of Marietta, sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Vernon Burgess of Piedmont; sister, Myrtice Smith of Greenville; brother-in-law, Clyde Hicks of Pelzer, sister-in-law, Sharon Frady of Omaha, Nebraska, brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Nancy Frady of Greenville; granddaughters, Tammy Davis, Sarah Cannon, both of Greenville, Stephanie Ruth  of Rock Hill, Briana Albright of Marietta; grandsons, Alex Cannon of Williamston, William Holbrook, Mark Smith, both of Morganton, NC, Zane Holbrook of Fayetteville, NC, Ben Albright of Marietta; great-granddaughters, Allyson Cannon of Williamston, Emma Ruth of Rock Hill, Corrie Davis and Gracie Davis, both of Greenville, great-grandson, Zachary Cannon of Williamston, best friends, Jean McConnell and Bandit.

She was predeceased by a son, William David Holbrook of Morganton, NC; sister, Doris Hicks of Pelzer; a brother, John Randle Frady of Omaha, Nebraska; and a brother-in-law, Frank Smith of Greenville.

Special thanks to Billy and Karen Capps, Dale Hicks, Wayne Hall, Betty and Vernon Burgess, Pastor and Mrs. Charles Fuller and Eastview Baptist Church, Jo Hernandez and family, and Janice Eaton and family.

The family is at the home of Mary Jo and Larry Pruitt, 201 Heathwood Place, Easley and  received friends 6-8 p.m. July 1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. July 2 at Eastview Baptist Church by Pastor Charles Fuller. Serving as pallbearer were nephews and Jimmy Capps. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARY CRAINE

Mary Magdalene Queen Craine, 77, of Pelzer, widow of James Price “J.P.” Craine, died July 5, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ollie Dodgens Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of Beech Springs Tabernacle.

Surviving are sons, James Craine of Piedmont, George Craine and Billy Craine, both of Pelzer; daughter, Mary Alice Smith and Kathy Henderson, both of Pelzer, Patty Yon of Starr-Iva; sisters, Evelyn Smith of Pelzer, Margaret Craine and Betty Sue Smith, both of Williamston; 15 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 19 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 8 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Beech Springs Cemetery.


MINNIE CRAWFORD

Minnie Bell Baugh Crawford, 74, wife of William Richard Crawford, Sr., of Belton, died June 26, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Hall County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Heddler and Cordie Graham Baugh. She was a homemaker and attended Riverside Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband of the home, she is survived by daughters, Gale Ashley of Belton, Jan Hudson of Greenville; sons, Kenneth Crawford of Easley, Rick Crawford, Jr. of Greenville; sister, Pauline Royston of Stone Mountain, GA; brother, Albert T. Baugh of Comer, GA; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held  June 29 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Garden of Memories in Belton.

TED WATKINS

Ted Watkins, 84, husband of Violet Robertson Watkins, of Williamston, died June 30, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Walhalla, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Kendall Company, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston.

He is survived by his wife of the home.

Funeral services were held July 3 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Entombment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.


FAYE RYMER ROBINSON

Faye Rymer Robinson, 76, of Greenville, died June 28, 2008.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James Harvey and Pearl Teague Rymer. She was the wife of the late William Benton “Bill” Robinson.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita R. Bagwell of Easley and Muchell R. Moore of Pelzer; son, James William Robinson of Easley; and five grandchildren.

A graveside service was held June 30 at Graceland Cemetery West.


AARON ROGERS

William Aaron Rogers, 61, of Pendleton, husband of Mamie Whitt Rogers, died July 2, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of Geraldine Clardy Rogers and the late Harold Joseph Rogers. He was a technician with Milliken and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Williamston.

Surviving are his wife of the home; daughters, Beth Kellett of Pendleton, Amyee Hammonds of Anderson;  four grandchildren; mother, Geraldine; brothers, Joe Rogers of Pendleton, David Rogers of Piedmont and Marvin Rogers of Anderson; sisters, Mary Ann Martin of Seneca, Betty Ramey of Anderson and Vickie Bryson of Six Mile.

Funeral service was held July 6 at Trinity Baptist Church in Williamston. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

PAUL WATSON

Paul Glenn Watson, 69, husband of Patricia George Watson, of Piedmont, died July 6, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late John Wilbur and Maggie Marie Crawford Watson. He retired from Cushman Mill, was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Piedmont.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughter, Kimberly Elder of Piedmont; sister, Alma Coker of Belton; brother, Frankie Watson of Belton; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 9 at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
