MARY COOLEY

Mary Ann Cooley, 33, of Pelzer, died April 4, 2008.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of Charles William and Ellen Robinson Cooley. She was a member of the Pelzer Wesleyan Church.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, John William Cooley of Pelzer.

Funeral services were held April 7 at the Pelzer Wesleyan Church. Burial followed in Pine Lawn Cemetery.

FRANCES ELLISON HOOD

WILLIAMSTON - Frances Ellison Hood, 90, of Williamston, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Hospice of the Upstate, Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late William Oscar Ellison and Laura Williams Ellison. She was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers: Ruby Rutledge, Floyd Crawford, Lillie Mae Crawford, Annie Ford, Charlie Ellison, Heyward Ellison, Jessie Ellison, Jonas Ellison, Colie Ellison and Vick Ellison. She was the last remaining survivor of her immediate family.

Surviving are her husband Claude Hood of the home and two sons, Roger Hood and his wife Lynn of Anderson, and Dr. Mike Hood and his wife Kathy of Pendleton; six grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Hood and her husband Dr. Paul Barongan of Knoxville, TN, Amanda Hood of Greenville, Rodney Hood and his wife Jessica of Atlanta, GA, Lauren Craig and her husband Cliff of Gainesville, GA, Lindsey and Jordan Hood of Pendleton; five great-grandchildren; Skyler Lily, Ellison Hood, McKenzie Wade, Sadie Barongan, and Emerson Craig; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Williamston, where she was a member of the WMU and served many years in various capacities including GA leader and nursery worker.

She was a former employee at Mount Vernon Mills and worked as an Avon representative for over 30 years.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church, Williamston with the Rev. Dr. Mark Roberts and the Rev. Dr. Clarence Freeman officiating. The family received friends at the church prior to the service. Burial followed in the Big Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 10 Academy Street, Williamston, SC 29697.

Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, was in charge of arrangements.


MARSHALL SEIGLER

Marshall Earl Seigler, 59, of Piedmont, died April 4, 2008 at his home.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Joseph Coley and Blanche Marie Smith Seigler. He served in the State Guard, was a former employee of the Ritz Restaurant and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Piedmont.

He is survived by brother, Donald Ray Seigler of Piedmont; and sister, Judy Locke of Pelzer.

Funeral services were held Apr. 8 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelzer.


DOROTHY ‘DOT’ WOODCOCK

PELZER - Dorothy “Dot” Mae McCall Woodcock, 82, of 96 Stone Drive, wife of Frank “Pete” Woodcock, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Hospice of the Upstate.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Augustus and Mae Bell Sargent McCall. She was twice married, first to the late George Miles Phillips, retired from K-Mart, and was a member of the Augusta Road United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Jean Mosley and her husband Sam of Inman, Susan Earle and her friend Jimmy of Greenville; step-daughters, Martha Mackey and her husband Tony of Williamston, Cathy Jones and her husband Greg of Greenville; step-son, Woody Woodcock and his wife Vicki of Fountain Inn; brothers, Alvin McCall, Jr., of Greenville, Andrew McCall of Athens, TN; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a step-son, Frank Woodcock; brothers, Gordon, Jones, Manley, Norman, and Robert McCall; and sisters, Betty Fennell, Margaret Prater and Martha Pilgrim.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Augusta Road United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

The family is at the home and received friends 10-11 am. Monday prior to the service at the Augusta Road United Methodist Church.

MILDRED JAMES

Mildred James, 74, of Greenville, died April 3, 2008 at The Brian Center in Hendersonville, NC.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Carrie Lou Burts McCullough.

Surviving are husband, Thomas E. James; daughter, Jennifer Rahmaad of Greenville; sister, Lillian Chandler of Greenville; brother, Willie Lee McCullough of Greenville; and four grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Apr. 6 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.


MARIAM SMITH

Mariam Headen Smith, 65, wife of the late Horace R. Smith, of Seneca, died April 5, 2008 at St. Francis Regency Hospital in Greenville.

A native of Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Stella Louise Dove Headen. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith.

She is survived by daughter, Ronda Rene Griffin of Walhalla; son, J.D. Smith of Seneca; siblings, James Headen of Pelzer, Effie Coward of Spartanburg, Anita Headen of Pelzer, Dillard “Buddy” Lawson Headen of Westminster; and two grandchildren.

Burial was held April 8 at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.


LINDA GAIL CHAPPELL CAPPS

Linda Gail Chappell Capps of Greenville, died April 3, 2008.

She was predeceased by her father, Fred Chappell.

Surviving are her mother, Grace Chappell; son, Skyler Montgomery of Greenville; daughters, Shanna Goodlake and Staci Reid, both of North Carolina; brothers, Freddy Chappell of Greenville, Douglas Chappell of Piedmont and Wesley Chappell of Greenville; half-brother, Jerry Chappell and half-sister, Fay Hall of Easley.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.


ALBERTA MICKLER-CLARK

Alberta Mickler-Clark, of Piedmont, died April 1, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in California, she was a daughter of Rachel E. Green Mickler and the late John Jerry Mickler.

Surviving in addition to her mother are, husband, Wayne Clark; daughters, Wayneshia Clark of the home and Courtney Perkins of Charlotte, NC; sons, Desmond Clark of the home, Wayne Clark Jr. and Trevor Clark, both of Piedmont; sisters, Georgette Mickler of Greenville; brothers, Johnny Mickler Sr., and Timothy Mickler, both of Greenville; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held April 5 at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
